Wild or bred? crossbred? does it mean anything?

Can any characteristic tell us it's wild or bred ? ... like the body shape， pattern of the stripe or ....????

Hi,

Normally are not distinguishable.

But there are forms that are obviously caused over time by selection. For example Longfins.

On large catfish (which are kept in too small tank) is often the top of the head flattened.

Many aquarium catfish are also significantly thicker than in nature.
(too much food and too little exercise)

ppl said that it's possible for Hypancistrus sp. to crossbreed in nature. If so, what's the meaning of " pure" for Hypancistrus sp. and does "pure" exist among Hypancistrus sp?

yes of course, this is possible when two species / forms occur in the same habitat.
For example, it's hard to believe, that all striped Hypancistrus in the Xingu are completely independent.
That's a long evolutionary history.

But we humans do not have to get involved there now.
