Hi

My advice is to strain the worms and flush them with a bit of tank water then feed at night
Don't feed bloodworm every day as the cases of the worms are quite hard.

not knowing what other fish you have, if you release bloodworms into the tank, the ones that are not eated will find their way into the soil/gravel or sand. When they then die, it might soild the water. If you have cories this will solve your problem. I would monitor this very closely. cheers jk

Just to clarify, what "bloodworms" are you referring to?
In different parts of the world "bloodworm" is used to describe different things. I'm used to a bloodworm being a chironomid larvae. In other parts of the world I think it may also be used for tubifex-like worms.

My Sailfin in my community tank eats anything that i put in the tank. I have 180L tank with various fish including clown loach, leopard and yellow danios, harlequin rasboras, mollies, black neons, pristella tetras, cardinal tetras and 3 different types of Corys. I feed 2 packs of live bloodworm and daphnia mix at the same every saturday evening. Turn off the filter for 20 mins and its a real free for all. Probably about half of the bloodworm bury into to sand and the Corys spend all week routing them out. My Sailfin, when hungry just hoovers them up. I would estimate hes around 6 or 7 inches long and growing at an increasing rate. Not long till i have to order another new tank to keep him happy.

Nice to see your pleco doing well in your tank :)
I was thinking of 3-6 baby cories to do this job (eating the live bloodworms which fall into the sand.
Will it be okay to put cories with my synodontis (2.5 inches)

not knowing what other fish you have...
I only have the 1 sailfin pleco (2.5 inches) and the 1 synodontis catfish (2.5-3 inches)

Thanks, BPK

The plecs should eat some of the tubifex-type worms but only if it can get to them before the syno who will absolutely go crazy over them. One tip to keep them from spreading to far in the gravel is to bury a small plate in the gravel, like the type used with tea cups, and placing the worms on this area only.

Thanks, I think my pleco and my synodontis are a....pair? they always follow each other and show NO sign atall of aggresion towards each other and when one goes looking for food the other one goes aswell!!! its soo funny
Will the cories do that? because it will give me also something to look at during the day.

Thanks, BPK

corys are the best to watch when they school. They are the clowns of the tank. Get them in groups of 5 and more, but watch the water temp, some do not like water too hot over 26C. cheers jk
