wood bark , off or leave some on?

Hi, got a great piece of wood from aq store. It has a lot of bark on it. I scraped the bare wood areas and it is soft enough for the plecs to rasp on, but wonder if i need to remove the bark that is still on it? It looks kinda cool ,but will remove all the bark if i must.

What type of wood?

I usually leave it on if the wood is clean and I'm confident there will be no issues from it being left on.

I recently stuck a 5' manzanita tree in my large tank. I left the red bark on. Three days passed and the tree looked like it had been sand blasted.

thanks Jackson, mopani , i think , aquarium bought, soft , can scrape it with my nail , but i dig the look of the bark, so i will leave some on. It is going in with L034 medusas. Just didnt know if the bark had to come off.

Probably not mopani if you can scrape it with your nail. Mopani is extremely hard & dense. Mopani is actaully pretty easy to identify, it has one side that is smooth & lightish brown/tan and the other side is jagged, spiky and often a dark brown. The form of it could also be a clue, couly you take pics?

No problem

If it's that soft it's probably what they call Malaysian drift wood. Is it really dark brown? Mopani is usually two or even three tone wood.
