What would you call litter compared to a nice set so in other words what would u call going over the top with decor and what would be just right

I'm sure if you looked through pics of others tanks you will get the answer you seek.

I will list off what I use-
Drift wood
Fake/real plants
Terra-cotta pots
Slate caves
Coconut caves
And in some tank very fine/small profiled gravel

I use exactly the same except I leave out the fake plants-just one thing less to clean for me. I found all the tank pictures really us eful but I also check out the breeding logs as they contained some really good set up ideas. Hope that helped.

Really it's a matter of personal opinion. For example, if my father in law had his way my tanks would all have clown puke gravel, sunken ships, bubbling treasure chests and the like. Me, I'm more of a drift wood and rock guy. I prefer bare bottom tanks for ease of maintenence, but some neutral colored substrate looks great IMHO. I don't like most fake plants, but most of my tanks have plant shredders so I do use them sometimes. As for too much.. if it looks cluttered it probably is.

It all depends on what you like.I like my tanks to be as close to natural, but my husband keeps buying the sunken ships etc. I have a closet full, but I had an idea of a large teacup and saucer, and a teapot, with a window and curtains on the back glass.

I looked up pics of the amazon, where they catch plecs, and did my best to create a ''snag'' with stones, slate ,wood and pebbles, and since I re-scaped, I see them sometimes. I am sure they feel more comfy in ''natural'' look best to my ability.... yes , I also looked at the tanks ont he forums too, get great ideas and sometimes just gotta ::drool . You will know if too much stuff or not , stand back and look ... the tank will tell ya... just gotta have caves and choose were the plecs would prefer to hide, obviously not in front, by glass...HTH ,
