Ebay purchase? Ideas?

Right here he/she is.

The seller said that even the fish shop didnt know what it was!

It seems to be well fed, approx an inch or more wide and approx 5inches long.

Opinions welcome on what it could be?

Looks a little like my LDA33 but the spotting is heavier.

heres a pic of mine, there is a slight difference in the spot patterns but mine used to look just like yours, the spots have become more uniformed as its grown.

mouth shots would help. I'd agree it looks like a scobi from here, but it could be one of several different genera of fish.
