Substrate cleaners

Can anyone recommend a bottom substrate cleaner that will live peacefully with bristle nose plecs.?(I was thinking maybe the yo yo loach) My other half has two weather loaches in her 4ft gold fish tank, and they keep the substrate spotless. Any suggestions please.

Thanks mate, I don't have any waste yet, I am setting up a new tank and wondered if there were any suitable candidates I could put in with BN's

kuhli loaches would do a job for you without ever being aggressive.

i agree that if the bottom is dirty, then one possibly is overfeeding. The other option which I see in my lfs is to run an additional powerful external filter, once a week . The current stirs this up and then they remove this filter after about 4 hours. What I have tried to do in my tanks( i have 2 externals or powerhead in each tank ) is to make sure the current is less in one corner and then I suck this up with my water changes. Takes some time to work out the currents etc, but it works. Kuhli loaches are fine, but they are very slippery and fast fellas. I do nou use these. I keep corries in each tank, they swim and stir things up as well. cheers jk :thumbup:

A decent sized group of adult Brochis Splendens do a fantastic job of keeping a substrate clean and are very peaceful and fun to watch.

What media do you reckon would be best for this?

Med sponge and some wool perhaps?..

Never got on with gravel cleaners.. have a few mts (need lots more) and there'll be Cory's asap but I'd like to have a hoover option too.. and there's a canister in the shed that's not much use for owt else..
