Hi All :hi:

I was looking on eBay the other day and see some digital thermometers for £3.49. I was wondering if anyone has used these and are they any good? I only ask as my local fish store has them for sale for £12.95!!

Regards

I have about 5 of the digital thermometers (the ones with the probe that sits inside your tank while the display is outside). They all say they are accurate to about +/-0.1C (from what I can remember) I put all 5 probes in the same spot in the same tank and the readings varied from 21-30C. These were purchased at different times from different suppliers. I have since thrown them aside and use the glass thermometers instead.

I bought a load of them a few years back and they were also all over the place. I went back to the glass type ones :D

I have one of the ones with the probe, had it years. It's been used in vivaria, terraria and my current aquarium. Recently, it's about a degree out but it's been accurate until now. Battery lasted a couple of years, easily.

The 2 I have now are 'in tank' ones (as per the link I posted) and they are accurate so far. Only been in there about 3 months so far so can't comment on battery life or whether they'll remain accurate in the long term.

Glass are invaluable but these digital are proving very worthy.. maybe I've just been lucky. :)
