Tank size for L240

Hi All

I have seen some nice L240 in one of my lfs. They are about 4" in size now and I know they get 9-10". What I want to know is what size tank could I keep them in? I would probably get 2-4 of them depending on funds. I have plenty of bog wood and make my own caves so can furnish it out . Also what substrate would you recommend as I use sand in all my other tanks.

I wouldn't go smaller than a 75gal 48"x18"

2-4 will workout fine in a tank that size or bigger

Who's got those mate?? I see Kesgrave is listing L029, have they got it wrong (again) and actually have 240's?

Hi Ian I saw them in Fintasia at Braintree but was in a rush. I might be going over again today so will have a better look and let you know more. I went up kesgrave the other week and they have some nice size L200 in. But the tails were all chewed badly which was a shame cause I reckon they would have been stunners!!!

What size tank would I need for a pair of L240 fully grown if the tank is 2ft wide? Also any ideas what size caves I would need for a plec of this size? :dk:

Sorry I couldn't find the thread.


2x240 in a 3'x2' tank is fine IMO. If you canput them in 4x2 that's even better.
