hi boys and girls

I wrote a post about a year ago when i thought i was buying a male bn fully grown, and knowing the lfs very well we couldnt see him because he wouldnt come out of a whole in a very large piece of rock...so home came the rock and home came the bn.....well infact the male bn was a male medusa!!

He is beautiful now and measure about 15cm, he is very secritive and we have only seem him a dozen times in 12months or so! His best friend is a zebra botia lol.

here's a rare glimps...:woohoo:

lovely, interesting markings, I thought they were all black (or spotted medusa).
i think you should find him a female!

I hate to say it someone may have a different opinion but he looks stressed
I had a medusa for a while and was black
red markings like that always refer to a stressed bn imho
hey there
My bn's always get red markings when they are horny..maybe the stress of holding it all in? but will check up on that.... just in case.
He was being tuffed out of his home at the time!
will let you know what i find out

though it is hard to find , i have found one source to confirm that bn's get a pink patch on there head when they are horny.
From expereince I know this to be trust as i have been breeding them for about 3 years and when breeding is iminant they get a pink spot on there head.
HOWEVER some things to consider
1. his colour is not noramlly this patchy and as noted by irene you normally only get black and spotted medusa.
2. I have researched and i believe he may be a FLATTENED BRISTLENOSE...but am no means sure
3. I have just taken his tank mate away and I had the flash on.

thanks for bringing this up, i will monitor his colour but he is so secritive (unlike a BN) and only comes out in the dead of night it will be hard to catch a glimps!

If anyone has any ideas let me know!

Hi C, humm ,he looks very different to my male medusa, ,perhaps different types ? You can see my post on page 2 here,(says video, but it aint), where my medusa had a fat head and shorter tail , so must be different types. Your guy is pretty cool too !

Nice looking Bn, not a medusa but a handsome beast none the less.
The red "thumbprint" is nothing to be worried about at all, it is quite often very visible in mature males

i think i am getting the feeling he may be a BN -lol
Like you say a sexy BN at that! Maybe i should breed him? No wonder he is upset i took his longfin gf away! i thought they had no chance of breeding- yurns out they do.

I tried putting him in a 330ltr tank with another male bn and female x2 and they just argued all the time- whats the world coming to when two bn males can not share 48inch's of tank!

I def would not put him with any other male BN.
but its possible he is either not a medusa or is a variant rather than standard.
he is lovely, its worth finding out what he is in order to find the right female.
can you catch him and take lots more pics, top, side, face, underside etc?
