Hi all-
I have a common pleco and ive had it for 3 years. It was recently with an oscar but it died. But my common pleco survived, he was doing good until last week i noticed he had ich like crystals. I began to treat it with nox ich.
I removed the carbon from the filter. After about 5 days the ich was almost gone. but later i began to notice white flakes on his belly. I thought it was ich and continued treating. But soon it spread and now it covers the entire body. Also his eyes are clouded and for the first time ever he has been blinking. The white flaky things now cover his entire body, i am currently still treating it as ich with the heater at 86 degrees and usage of nox ich. He is not active anymore and he just sits at the bottom not sucking on anything. He also hasnt ate any of the food iv given him. Ive also seen the flakey stuff coming off of him. And he is bleeding in alot of places. This might be becauseis trying to jump out of the tank. He is also breathing rapidly. I have attatched pictures of his symptoms. If you could tell me what this is and how do i get rid of it that would be great! I dont want him to die!
thanks so much for your help!

When was the last time you cleaned the filter ? When did you do and how much of a water change. Looks like virus/ich so keep on treating it. I would do daily water changes of 15% and add an airstone for more oxygen movement. Normally if the plec wants to get out of the tank it is a sign of lack of oxygen or water quality. Have you added any new fish or decorations ? please advise. cheers jk

Unfortunately my pleco died overnight. I have the bubbler on all the time, My water i change alot and the filter is clean. Im pretty sure he died because of chemical burns from nox ich. I tried treating it with aquarium salt but i was to late. :(

Sorry for your loss.
That looks like a bacterial infection.
Were you feeding live foods to your oscar?
Live feeders are infamous for introducing diseases, could be what cause the death of the oscar as well.

I rarely fed my oscar live fish. Plus he died from over feeding while i was on vacation. Im pretty sure its chemical burns it rotted his fins to the bone and his skin was flaking off. thanks though.
