Right folks...

Its a long way off BUT - I'm looking to get peoples opinions of tank size and scale...

I'm looking to "go big" with the next tank and initially though 6x2x2... however - I'd like it not to dominate the room and look Big and bulky (I know its a 600L tank - its going to be big and bulky)

I'm looking for ideas of other options...

The "space" I've got to play with is about 10 foot long BUT I cant go that extreme...

Would 8x2x18" (LxHxD) look too long and narrow?

are there any standard tanks around that sort of size?
(Brian - whats your big one?)

mines 2m (6.5 x 2 x 2 i think)
8x2x18 would look too long and narrow imo, i'd want at least 8x3x2<3

I personally would LOVE to have a 6 foot long by 4 feet wide by 3 feet tall.... but I am dreaming. Or huge wall long tank (length of wall, 1 foot wide, 4 feet high)..... Could you do like a wall unit? Something like 6 feet long, 2 feet wide (or even smaller) and say 3 feet tall or more?

Thats sort of what I would like to do...

It'll run along the wall at the back of our lounge, Think is - It'll have a lot of plecs in it - so ideally It's have a wider rather than taller... but then It'll doninate teh room - Ho hum...

Lorna wants me to make a mock up out of boxes to see how big I'm allowed :)

I'll give it a miss - A 6x2x2 has been "approved" but I'm pushing for bigger :)

£25 will be a bargain for someone though... tempted for the fish house...

Man your such a gimp Russ. Just order a 10 x 2 x 2 and tell Lorna if she dont like it then jog on (big out your chest and beat it while saying this). Lorna will soon understand who,s the daddy :lol:.

Make a mock up:lol::lol::lol:

I am just about to buy a house for the sole fact it has a mooooosive purpose built fish house at the bottom of the garden. Now thats a proper man:D

I have a 6ft * 18" * 18" tank, but the big plecs i like need a tank at least 2ft by 2ft tanks :(

I would make sure you have that at least and then you are not limiting your choice of big plecs :D

It might help to know the room dimensions too?

yes it will dominate the room but so what?

if space is 10 ft then may be easier for access and maintenance to get 8 x2x2 ?

also depends of budget is an issue ?
also access -like doorways etc - can you get a 10ft into the room? or have to build it in situ?? lol!!

If your gonna get one made, i would say 96x30x20 if you,ve got the space.
I had a 96x30x24 which was brilliant for cichlids but the 24 high was just a bit high for maintenance. If its for big plecs, i reckon 18 to 20 high will be spot on !
Good luck talking Mrs RC into that !! :)
