had him for about a month and was finally able to get some good shots of him. about 4" long right now. eats great (assumably, hardly ever see him out!), and always has a full belly. just dunno what he is!

will try to get some mouth/belly shots and post them if i ever get the chance.

any ideas?

thanks,
andrew

i appreciate the quick replies everyone. in the pleco profiles on here, l-029 also looks very similar. that was my initial guess, but l029 on planetcatfish is very different. sooo, as of right now i am leaning toward the l201.

the only thing that i question about that is the overall color of the spots. in the pictures it's kind of washed out, but the spots are really more of a white/cream color and not so much the orangeish hue described for l201.

as far as the scobi sp., the one posted looks a bit too "smooth" in comparison to the plec i have.

but what do i know? that's why i'm asking you guys!

also contrary to the pictures, his body is solid black, not the grayish color shown. but his fins are pretty well represented.

if anyone has any other ideas, let me know.

thanks,
andrew

thanks for all the help everyone! guess i'll go with most everyone's suggestion of l201. one question; how does everyone feed their plecs frozen bloodworms? how do you all keep them from scattering about the tank?

thanks,
andrew

I just defrost & feed. it gets all over but the fish find it. If the current is really strong you may want to turn the filters down a bit until the bloodworms have a chance to settle to the bottom. Don't foget to turn the filter back up though.

thanks lornek8. do you feed a whole cube?
Two actually, but then it all depends how many tanks/fish i'm feeding. I typically feed more than one type of frozen food at one time but then I'm also feeding three different tanks & all my fish, even non-plecs.

I also feed mysis shrimp & brine shrimp. I've heard brine shrimp is not very nutritious but since I bought it I feed it. There are new kinds which are gut loaded prior to freezing & these are supossed to be more nutritious. Brine shrimp is also supossed to be good for the digestive system though. A point to remember however, is that I am not feeding the frozen primarily for the plecs, it is targeted primarily at the plec's tankmates though I am not overly concerned if the plecs do get some as the varieties I keep in these tanks am mostly carnivorous or omnivorous.
