at that size, there are a number of fish that bear that coloration--393, a few fish from the toncantins, sp. rio paraguay, and even young triradiatus.

I don't think it's 309 based on the fact that even young fish have a huge rostrum.

I thought the same thing, all my reference pics are based on adults.

I am pretty sure its not L309 for the same reason as cup.

I am starting to think there are actually some nice bristlenoses out there

There was no info on this one. I purchased the only two in the tank, as Common BNs, for $3.99. They weren't in with anything that it could be mistaken as so i am not sure if it came in as a contaminant with something else.
