HELP

hi just wondering if any idea what this plec was,seen it in fish shop other day.would describe it,very dark with diamond like spot's,sorry not much help lol. thanks dave

maybe a common bristlenose, but theres a few it could be, hard to say without a photo

Really tough to say as there are a number of black plecs with white spots. I'm thinking L142/LDA033.

Sorry for not replying sooner.

Zebra plecs are fairly easy to keep although you would need to keep them in a tank without other bottom feeders as they don't compete well for food.

so hard to id anything without pic. most shops will let you take pics.
you might it hard to find a zeb in the shops. if you are new to plec keeping I would not start with an overly expensive fish.

i'd start with Bristle Noses, Cheap and cheerful you can pick them up for 50p each from fellow breeders... sometimes upto £1.50 and when their breeding (about 18 months later) if you get that far with them, there is always people that want them. They will teach you all you need to know about plecos and are very forgiving from my experience. You don't need RO/HMA water or any special foods for them either. So my recommendation from over the years would be to start with simple Bristle Noses. Commons are very similar although they grow out of control if you have anything less than a 400ltr tank.
