Sponge for intake pipe

Where do I get these from? What do I ask for?

I know that fluval do them for their intake pipe which is smaller than your normal ones in their fluval edge tank range. My daughter has one and it would go on to any filter intake pipe IMO. They are sold as part of their accessories range.

Are You wanting to do this to prevent fry from disappearing up it?

Use some tights, thats what i did or just wrap any thinish sponge round the intake and tie something round it to hold it on. The sponge is more effective though and doesn't get clogged up.

I agree, the other cheap option is the smaller air-driven sponge filters, the chimney will insert into most uptakes for externals. Watch your flow rate though because they do plug quickly.

Eheim will repay me when I go to that great fish house in the sky.

A whole set-up with Eheim filters and as I will be immortal it will be for ever bliss I will be empowered with a brain that has every Eheim part number and will spend my days rebuilding and testing failed and rejected Eheim equipment. Death holds no fear for me now LOL

Naturally should I descend to the living hell it will be all Fuval and I will spend eternity fixing the crappy things for people who over stock over feed and don't do water changes and keep ruddy guppy's and swordtail.

This is why I am so kind and understanding preparing my self for the next life.

But being serious I use Eheim because in 40 years plus of fish keeping I have yet to find a more adaptable and sturdy filter.
