I take it 183s are basically bristlenose catfish and are sexed as bristlenoses are :thumbup:

They are indeed Ancistrus Andrew BUT are worlds apart from any of the others......except L309 of course

Nice fish but seem to be a difficult one to breed.

dif shape noses would be a reasonable sign. the amount of bristles can be misleading if they are youngish fish as some males are late developers (suppresed by other male company) IMHO

by the looks of it it seems like a pair because both of them are the same size and one is showing very small signs of bristle growth.

btw how big is the pair? very nice catch

Iam still going to stick my neck out and say iam 99.9% sure they are male and female...

with the ammount of bristle's the male has he is very much a mature kinda guy...this species is also well known for its large ammount of bristle growth and the other plec only has them around HER lip...
