heya

in my clown pleco tank, 3 females & 2 males, today i have found when cleaning i moved a cave and found some white clear slim with red blood streaks in it, no idea what it was but gave it a good clean, i first thought it was the "remains" of a fish but, all fish are present, i double even tripple checked.

really confused to what it could be... all plecos and fish are very healthy.

any ideas?

thanks

heya,

Deffiently not snails, Yes they are breedable i believe, they are about 3 inches each and what appears as a said above 3 females and 2 males, they have the clay caves like on ebay, a sandy bottom, lots of different types of wood, the tank looks like the underneath of a tree root ball :) they seem to love it, i did lots of research on the internet about there natural envrioment and tried my hardest to recreate, the water flow at the topish of the tank is fairly fast and has a couple gouramis in it just to keep it moving...

They are feed on a variety of food a complete mixture, they get fed, carrot, cucmber, courgette, tetra prima, prawns, blood worm, brine shrimp, algae wafers, nutrafin meat pellets,

Infact to be honest they eat pretty much anything i put in there...

Thanks

it was also somewhat like a snot kind of thing:$ sorry for the bad link, but its the only thing i could think of which would instantly explain how slimy it was. All seem fine as i said previously.

could have been some rotting blood worm. sounds like your diet is a bit protein rich for a veggy fish perhaps?
I'd tend to agree.

You might also try wood caves vice rock caves.

Initially was thinking the slimy stuff was internal parasite related but its tough to say based on the description. What is the relative size we're talking about here?

too much protein will give them tummy problems.
but they are stupid enough to eat it yes!
give algae wafers some nights, other nights try and give veg.
give them some of whatever you are cooking for dinner (green beans, cabbage, brocolli, etc), or just some peas defrosted out of the freezer -(with skin taken off), else buy some cucumber or courgette and tie some to a stone or put in a clip.

it was about the size of say a 50p blob... thought it might have been eggs or something like this from a failed breeding attempt as such... who knows...

they do get some cucmber and courgette, just wanted them to have a varied diet, so stay away from tetra prima and blood worm etc... i thought veggies were a treat as such...

will try the peas though... :):)

Thanks... should have taken a photo :( if i get anymore i will.
