hi there i have already gathered some good information from some people on this site regarding using RO water in aquariums, im just wondering what you guys are adding to your RO water to replenish the minerals lost threw RO. i have been advised to use Equilibrium, should i also use some kind of Trace? one thing to keep in mind is that my system is quite large 2000L so cost plays a big roll in dosing my fish with products. thanks in advance for your help and ideas dave. :hi:

Yeap. I just mix mine with HMA water via a mixing tap. I can control the TDS to suit my needs that way. It also saves me a fortune in minerals

I totally agree with Mr G

Apart from saving money HMA also is far more stable than adding tap water or any form of re-mineralization.

I spent years playing with different types of re-mineralization, it never worked or worse it caused unexplained deaths.
I now use R/O and HMA mixed and I breed Hypans and keep fish that only a few years ago were almost impossible to keep for me.

Completely agree with the above
In my case though I have to add minerals because the tap water is too soft on its own to buffer the water if mixed with R/O water so I use Dennerle osmose remineral + it does work well and I have had no problems

Of all the minerals that you can use I feel dennerle is about the best I add this in very small amounts.

I feel to aim for a TDS of just under 200 and a Kh of 4 to 6 is best.
