Sorry should have asked a few more questions:
1) What size tank? (dimensions)
2) What wattage lamps? What color temp &/or brand/model?
3) What type of plants?
4) Do you use CO2?

Fish will be okay with the higher levels of lighting. Aquairums are very deceiving as to ow "bright" they are. To us they appear relatively bright, typically its very dim compared to natural light levels.

Technical Support Team
http://www.aquariumplantfood.co.uk/ contains all the essential nutrients plants need, If you don't have CO2 then easycarbo(other liquid carbons are available) is recommended as an additive too :thumbup:

Then the only other limiting factor will be your lighting, but then you can choose what plants you have which will be best suited to your lighting.

I use this, but then again, I do make it :)

ok,
1)75L tank,61cm long,34cm high,32cm wide
2)2x philips tubes,15w T8 (G13) aquasky 6500k and aquarelle 10000k
3)alsorts,pic at bottom of post
4)no co2.

the twisted vallis is growin like crazy and so are the plants on the front left
its the plants at the back right that are diein off (Anubias Lanceolata ) i think.
i,m using ,ferropol,5ml a day with water changes.
do u think it might just be down to over crowding at the back?
i use the same stuff in my edge and all plants are fine, but i do have LED lights for that tank.
the pic makes the plants look ok but the leaves are goin brown, ive trimed off the dead ones.

Wow, looks like your tank is doing pretty well.
Anubias typically do well in lower light levels so I don't think its shading. Is it a new plant? Anubias don't always react well to changes - increase or decrease in lighting levels, change in environment, etc. Is the rhizome buried in the substrate? Anubias typically don't like to be planted but prefer to send roots into the substrate or grown attached to something.

the planets are not new,all the plants apart from the ones on the bog wood
are in the substrate, sand on top and tetra plantamin at the bottom.
the tank does look good but when u look closer the leaves on the plants at the back are goin off colour, yellow,e.

Anubias don't like their rizhomes buried, they rot. I'd check the condition of the rhizome, could cause a mess but required to save the plant.

Is that the bottom off the plant before the roots?
Would it be ok if I pull them up so
Just the roots are in the substrait?

ok,
1)75L tank,61cm long,34cm high,32cm wide
dont think It 75l...
filled to the brim would be about 65l... 17gal (us)

so your lighting isnt actually that bad... approx 2W/gal

Might just be the wrong light spectrum.
I bought Dennerl trocal tubes and couldnt keep up with the growth rate (using EI ferts and presurised co2)

Yes, the thicker "stem" that the roots come out of & the leaves branch off of. Should be okay to just pull them up a bit, probably easier than planting them all over again.

The smell is an indication of both the plant rotting & the substrate going stale. A rotten egg smell points to the buildup of hydrogen sulphate in the substrate due to insufficient circulation in the substrate &/or substrate "stirring". Did you happen to notice bubbles released from the substrate as you removed the plants? Hydrogen sulphate buildup can be dangerous & if it gets bad enough, poison the tank.

The addition of Malaysian Trumpet Snails (MTS) to the tank will help to keep the substrate fresh.

it wern,t a rotten egg smell and there were no bubbles.just a dampish smell, not over the top type of smell.

hi, i got some java ferns to put at the back today.
now the guy at the LFS said its ok to put the roots and the rizhomes into the sand....
i did some checkin on the web and it turns out u should not put them into the substrait.
so ive just left them sitting on the top of the sand,i think they look good like that:
before:

after:
