Okay, I've been keeping fish on and off again for about ten years, And have decided to finally get serious about this, so I went to test my water to find the ph was 7.6, which was hardly ideal for the types of fish I had been trying to keep :whistle:
(Note to self: ignorance is NOT bliss!) :wb:
So, here I am to learn more and hopefully set up a nice aquarium that includes cories and a small pleco or two!!

as a side note, a ph of 7.6 is fine for pleco's/ cories, so long as it is stable, ph swings will be more harmful then a slightly higher ph reading

Actually what I was mainly trying to keep were things like neon tetras and other softwater fish.

the requirememnts for most south american soft water sp. are the same though, and the stable ph is the more important factor than the level.
and anyway, 7.6 is pretty damn close to neutral, i wouldn't worry about it
