We are looking at a 598l tank 72x24x24"

Would we need 2 x 300w heaters?
also what external filter would be best ?

Tank, Cabinet & Hood with lights £773

I bought the AquaOne 1800R 72x24x24 its came with 2 good external filters and heaters although i chose to upgrade and sold off the equiptment that so i recoupd £170 from that, the tank was £1200 but if you ask around you can get a good deal i paid £900 i was going to go custom like the tank you have shown as it was a bit cheeper but no equiptment with the tank and also the light units wernt up to much in the custom tanks nothing like the 8 x T5 light units in the aquaone or the Rena tanks, there was a 2nd hand rena tank on aquarist classified this week for £350 a absolute bargain!

we're running 2x 300W heaters on our big tank.
filter wise I've got 2x Tetratec 1200's - thinking of adding another similar filter aswell soon...

In the house of gee
Are those cabinets re-inforced?? Just wandering because it looks like a few pieces of 1/2 mdf/chipboard and never looks man enough for the job. I was worried about my customade stand not being strong enough and thats built in 4x2 lol

Cheers

 I know it worries me as its a lot of weight over 1/2 a ton, but I guess they know what they are doing. I think the custom ones look stronger than the Aquaone cabinet for the 1800R, even the cabinet for my Rio 180 looks flimsy yet copes no problem.

I can asure you when you come to build the aquaone cabinet there are very strong and really really heavy! Ive had juwel tanks and they are badly made compaired to the aquaones, i really was tempted to go custom but with 8-10 weeks wait for building and the lighting wasnt the best i chose not to in the end, plus if a light faild on my aquaone tank i can just pop into the shop face to face and sort out a new one always better than chatting to some randomer on the phone in my opinion

It wasnt the light tubes i didnt like as you can change them whenever you want, most have 2 x 48" T8 tubes which to me really aint brilliaint for a tank of that size id be asking what the light arrangement is, plus they sell you lots of extras that soon bumps up the price

Oh yeah they sent a HUGE list of extras, the lights were 60" ermmm (checks email)

Arcadia Tropical Lights (2 x 58w single starters, 2 x 60" reflectors, 2 x 60" 58w tubes) - £113

and the tank, cabinet and hood for 72x24x24
Price £560
free delivery
Then you could buy your own filters and heaters.

Are the lights T5 or T8 bulbs? The FX5 wont come with filter media though you need to buy that seperate the eheims are like that also, im going to change to eheim soon for the power consumption they are far better on juice :D
