I just this morning checked all my tanks and found my longfin brown ancistrus boy with a huge ulcer on his head and affecting one of his eyes
I can only assume he must have burnt himself on the heater but I'm absolutely gutted. I've bought all the things to fit every heater with a guard but am working my way around slowly.
I've taken him out and treated him with Aquaswab and Aquagel and bless him, he's been as good as gold letting me do all that. And he's now having a rest in the fry tank with his brother's babies as I don't want him disappearing into the depths of the longfin tank.
I expect him to recover, but I'm so gutted this has happened. We've had this boy the longest out of all of our ancistrus and he's our baby. I'm holding off the Esha200 and Exit until I see what the Aquagel does for him. Right now there doesn't appear to be any fungusing of the wound but this could change.
I'm now going to go and make the rest of those heater guards as a number one priority for today
Please send him healing thoughts.
