In my 4' tank have 24" bar. The Cory's love it and as its a inch off bottom exsess food and waste gets pulled towards it, esay to clean up.
The L134's and the L002 dont mind it at all. Also helps with airation with water movement.

You're running C02, correct?
If you are, then the added water movement of the airstones will tend to displace the C02 in the water & diminish the effectiveness of the C02. Well, the C02 will stil lbe effective but you'll need to use a lot more to get the same benefits. If you aren't using a pressurized system which you can control the C02 levels then the benefits of running the C02 may be lost.

You can get the same water movement benefits with a water pump & still get the benefits of C02. As the C02 was helping your staghorn algae problem, don't be surprised if it comes back due to the addition of the airstone.

hi all,ok, i now have a small pump to move the water around more in the tank, and as i have the pump now should i remove the air stone?i also have a better co2 pressurised system to add to the tank.
now if i add this co2 kit would it be better to turn off my air stone off at daytime and turn off the co2 at night?
i think ive got this the right way round, please advise if i havent.

p.s. the staghorn is going now.

with my co2 i turn it on 2 hours before the lights come on and then 2 hours after the lights get turned out. This seems to keep the right level of dissolved co2 in the tank

hope this helps
