My 2 x Eheim 2075's have 2 trays of Mech Pro which is a pain in the neck as it floats so you can't get the trays out without emptying with water so I end up tipping a load of media out into the sink emptying the canister. Can I swap it out for BioMech or Substrat pro? If so which one - or shall I go with one of each and have 2 trays of BioMech and 2 of Substrat Pro?

Or should I just stick with the Mech Pro? I have loads of each so don't really want to buy a different media altogether

Hi, yes I know what you mean as I have a 2075 too, I also have a 2028 and that uses EHFIMECH, as the first mech filter medium, if I were to change I think I would go with this. :) HTH

I had the same problem with my 2078 so i get rid of the mechpro and used biomech. If you want some mechanical media go with the biomech it also acts as a biological material and does not float or else replace with biological media. The sera siporax is good as a first media even though is bio media kinda works as a mechanical too cause of its shape.Seachem Matrix is the best bio media imo but i wouldnt place it as a first filtration. My 2078 works with this order Biomech/Siporax/Matrix/SubstratPro and my 2080 Siporax/Siporax/Matrix.
