I've had him for six days now and I'm concerned beacause I haven't seen any evidence of him eating.
He comes out when I put in the algae wafer, but then he ignores it.
There's a good bit of algae in the tank, but he seems to be just 'sampling' what's there and then looking for more, I haven't seen any spots on the glass where it looks like he cleaned it, I'm starting to get worried.

Ive added your photo to the post. He looks extremely skinny, I would try to get him eating asap, try rubbing some food in some garlic juice as this is an appetite stimulator. You could also try mixing some foods up with some egg white and microwave briefly and feed that, maybe also add some garlic to it, anything to get him eating.

Was he wild caught, if so it might be worth worming him too.

Good luck.

I just read the ingredient list on the "algae wafers" and am seriously ticked off, the top ten ingredients in order of quantity are: fish meal, dehydrated alfalfa meal, wheat flour, wheat germ meal, starch, dried seaweeds meal, fish oil, krill meal, and
>_< "dried bakery products"
No garlic in the house, I'll have to get some tomorrow, in the meantime, I've put a piece of zucchini in the tank, first time I've tried that, hopefully, he'll eat some.
As to whether or not he's wild caught, I have no idea about that, I'll have to ask the pet store when it opens tomorrow.

Good luck
Thanks.

I agree he needs to be offered a wide range of food, not just algae wafers
Good news, he's been eating the zucchinni I put in and I think he's put on a tiny bit of weight since I've uploaded the picture, Zucchinni is a bit low in calories though, I think I'll get some Sweet Potato and see if he likes that, it's got about six times as many calories per ounce. :yes:

Cool:clap::clap:

Bell peppers(capsicum), deshelled peas, spinach are other good options:)
