My ABN female is a chubby bunny at the moment. I've seen her eating a lot but she looks a little too big to just be fat...
She would only just be bordering on breeding size so I'm really not sure if it's possible for her to be gravid. She's 7 - 7.5cm.

Just thought I'd throw this pic in too. I thought it was funny how she does this. Instead of hanging on to the wood she just lays around on her back. I see her do it all the time.

Wow, she sure is chunky. Hopefully she is gravid. She does look it. The first time I found one of my fish lying on its back like that, I thought there was a problem. Come to find out it was just resting like that, and they do it all the time. I have a Gibby thats done it a few times too. Funny stuff.

agreed she is very gravid and yes you can see 2 bunches of eggs. i believe that plecs store eggs in the body in 'lung like shapes' (2 bunches either side of the middle)

Ok I'll do that this afternoon when I finish work. I only have one male. Hopefully he's ready for fatherhood. Lol. I see him fanning his fins all the time when he's sitting around the place. I wasn't expecting her to have any eggs so soon because I haven't had the male for long.

Quick update..
I was watching them for a long time because the tank is next to me when I play xbox and I don't think the male knows what to do.
When she went into the cave, it's the first time I've ever seen her get near him without shooing him away. I watched her sitting up the back of the cave all bent over in a funny way, but she didn't give up any eggs.
Meanwhile, the male is just moving around inside the cave, fanning a little and carrying on..
She left the cave a few times but kept coming back and would sit diagonally at the entrance with her head just sitting out. It was almost as if she was trapping the male! lol

I kept watching to try and figure out what he was doing.. He's a lot harder to see in the cave because he's common colour while she's albino. While she sat at the entrance I could see him upside-down with his nose poking out just above her head, but that's as close as they would get, and nothing else happens.
For all I know, they could be doing something while I'm here at work (I'm on lunch by the way!) but that's the happenings I have witnessed so far.
She would be much more mature than him because she used to live in a much smaller tank, therefore she is not the size of a bn her age that would have grown up in a large tank. I wonder if he's too young to know what to do?
What happens if she doesn't lay her eggs?

I will leave him alone. I had to get one photo though... so I was really careful and moved everything really slow. He looks so small. lol. He's only around 7cm.

Enjoy
