I thought I'd make a new thread for this because my other thread was based on whether my female was gravid or just fat, so this is my celebration thread.

I want to share the good news that my bristlenose eggs hatched today.
I set up a small tank with some water taken from the main tank and transferred the cave over with the male and fry. I don't have a light on it but it sits next to the main tank and gets a little light from there and it will be fine during the day.
It doesn't look like I've lost any because there's HEAPS. Pretty good for a young couple

Daddy on the eggs

Happy Hatchday!

Day 2

All I've gotta do now is find somewhere for them all to go when they grow up! I just advertised on facebook today to my friends.

Thanks guys! I'm interested to see how many will be albino.
Albinoism is a recessive gene to the brown coloration. Thus unless there is albino genes in the father's bloodline, they should all be brown. Breed the brown babies together & you should then get some albino.

The mother is albino. Wouldn't that make some babies albino?
Not necessarily. This goes to Mendelian inheritance. Ya can't tell what you will get...I have two longfins and their bubs aren't all longfins either..I got about 50/50 colour...mums a common lf and dads an albino lf...
Ya can tell the albinos from their eyes before they colour up..Take a look at my breeding log, might help you decipher who is who...

Day 5

Seeing patterns now

Wide shot with Daddy

Dad has grown a lot aswell during his parenting. I can see lots of hairs on his fins and he has twice as many bristles. He's a big boy now :D
