Just some of my latest fish

Evening

Been busy re-doing tanks since the Pier and Rare Aquatics visit but managed to get a few pics of just some of my new arrivals

Centromochlus perugiae. I urge anyone who is into breeding to get some of these. I watch them for hours swimming about, Not shy at all and feed for England.

Compta (L134). Apart from BN,s these were my first plec I bred so I couldnt resist the price and look of them.

Corydoras "Black" Still look green to me

Apistogramma Kelleri. The only pic I can get but a stunning fish

9" L600 that likes to think he is well hidden under his piece of wood

I like the Apisto (obviously) and the pike, is it C. regani? also looks like it might be Petra rather than Peter.

Ahhhhh. we're now 2:0 down, I think I'd rather be a guppy.

i prefer the pike characins personally, ctenolucius hujeta, acestrorhynchus falcirostris, altus, falcatus and hepsetus odoe. But for some reason i'm starting to like the pike cichlids (not normally a cichlid person)

Hi Gee, no you are right on a better monitor Peter is definitely a male. It is plump enough for a female, but doesn't have a black, white ringed dorsal fin blotch or any pink colouration on its "beer" belly.

Are you going to try and find a female?

I have a female already Darrel. I did think that Peter was the male(See jozebs i did listen a little bit) because it does not have the blotch on the dorsal like you have said. The female is a lot plumper and spends the whole day hiding from the male in a oak cave that floats around the 6ft. I am hoping the male calms down a bit as the female cannot leave the cave without the male charging at her.

yup peter defo a male, no "eye spot" on its dorsal. I have a pair too but my male gets battered by the female and i currently in hiding on the juwel filter.

Brilliant, only a matter of time before you have hundreds of little vicious Pike Cichlids to sell. I've never kept them, but apparently once paired they are fantastic parents and capable of maiming fish many times their own size.

sounds like a line of sight issue. There is a useful post on "Apistogramma forums" by Larry Waybright about them, I think you should be able to read it: <http://forum.apistogramma.com/showthread.php?t=9778>
"I provided number of 4" clay flower posts, water logged bamboo sections and many lengths of 3/4' PVC pipe sections. I kept them in both bare tanks with wood and potted Amazon Sword Plants and also in the 75 gal tank with white quartz sand"

They are probably too big for 1/2 Coconuts? I've got plenty of these and another possibility which would be Loquat leaves (I've got loads and loads of these), they are big and stiff! (have to be careful what I type here) and very resistant to rotting.
