hi all woke up this morning to find one of my Pictucs catfish not very well. The water perimeters in the tank are all perfect (before anyone asks) the fish is breathing very rapidly and doesn't really have any control over his swimming. He was fine the other day, it seems to of happened over night, and he looks like he could die any moment. Does anyone have any ideas as i don't want to lose him. I have quarantined him.

sorry to hear i would say its 2 things
aquarium lacking oxygen as for his rapid breathing
and it sounds like a gas build up as he is rising to the top thus you should be trying to figure out if its bloat or something else. best if pics are provided and as water is perfect please list parameters "if you cant test them take some water to a lfs and ask them to do it for you?"

has it eaten pooped or been un-active in the past 3 day's?

This fish lives in groups in the wild
When alone they display eratic swimming ie they swim up and down the glassfrom top to bottom

Hi all,
Sorry about your loss,
"today that both eyes have clouded up a bit" & "look like he had a bit of damage around the gills"
Difficult to know and could be nearly anything, but both the symptoms mentioned are ones you get when you have had an ammonia spike.

cheers Darrel
