My yellow labs have developed some black spots near their mouth. They are fairly large spots also. It doesn't sound like black spot disease, because the spots are suppose to be about the size of a grain of sand. The spots on mine are much larger. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Some fish develop black spots when they are fed too much spirulina, do you think thats possible?

Try feeding for only 30 seconds 3 times a day.

I can't get a photo. When I go near the tank they get behind the rocks. I only feed 3 times a day and not in large amounts. They can gobble it up in a minute or less. I do feed spirulina every other day and the rest of the time I feed them super color flakes. (Omega I) I'm treating them with aquarisol right now, just in case, but I don't know if this will work. These are the first cichlids I've kept. Any recommendations on treatment, if it is something to worry about?

Without a pic i cant really say to be worried or not. do you have a hospital tank? You could try moving the fish and see how it goes.

They are in a 45 gal bf tank. I only have the 7 labs and 1 german red peacock in that tank at the moment, so I guess it's just fine for a hospital tank. Thanks for the info! :dk:
