Help Pls Peppermint don't look to good

It looks like its got a swollen anal? or egg bound not sure and how to cure it ?
resides on a standard 4ft Tank with 3 other adults pepps big male currently fanning eggs big female looks healthy and smaller female looks fine only this one below who i thought is a male got this symptoms??

not an expert at all on these sort of things but if it was mine id try giving him/her some shelled peas for a while to see if that help ,try putting her / him in a seperate tank if you have one with some of main tank water and the peas ,thats what i would do if it was mine anyway .might not be the right thing to do but thats my opinion.:dk:

yes it does look to be the start of a full blown case of bloat

iv never cured bloat in high or advanced stages

i would confirm id if it is it wont eat or poo but if it is eating rub garlic on the d-sheld pea

epsom salts baths are also said to help confirm before doing

is it floating yet? meaning sliding up the glass?

To me it doesn't look like a classic case of bloat. With bloat the scales on the fish will stick out. And I've never known bloat to "expand" the anal area.

When I was reading while the pics were loading my first thought was prolapsed anus. But the pics look like something is pushing outwards, where as a prolapsed anus will be like a balloon on the outside.

If it didn't have the bristles up the face I would've said eggbound.

How has the fish been apart from this?
If you have seen it poop recently what did it look like?
Have you seperated it from the others?

The bloat associated with plecs does not manifest itself in plecs the same way it does in other fish as it is not necessarily the same condition. In plecs bloat can be associated with improper diet and digestive distress whilest in other fish, bloat is due to an internal infection. As plecs have bony plates rather than scales you will not see the "pine coning" that you'd see with say a betta. I believe if i remember correctly bloat in plecs will cause some anal swelling in some cases.

Another condition that sometimes causes anal swelling is camallunus worms, which for some reason seems fairly common in Australia.

Yes i have separated him/her on a different tank on isolation and no i haven't seen him poop yet? Not sure of your first question ..

i once purchased a abn lf with this camallunus worm i had a post up on pf.
tho this worm could cause anus swelling it tends not to bloat but cause waste in its victom which lead me to mid stage bloat?

good luck with treating him i sugest find pics on other cases to confirm its bloat then finding what others have done to treat bloat. pick one that you think is best then treat
because people tend to stress fish by jumping from one thing to another

thinking back! i once had a plec when i first started keeping fish that had this and looking back he was floating towards the end

please share with us his diet before this occured

Sorry for the late reply been busy..

@foti Diet mainly is NLS algea wafers 1 day and next day will be veggies ( Cucumber & Zuccini alternate Lettuce sometimes and pumpkin ) & Veggie Flakes..

And quick update it's looking alot better now belly has reduce and anal no longer swollen eating very well..
