hi been reading the threads with hma/ro with interest.
my fish are where i work in birmingham tds of tap water is 065 i have been running it through hma giving me tds of 055, my tanks have tds readings of between 100 & 170. at work we have a de-min water plant that produces water with a tds of 000, can i mix this with my existing hma/tap water to give me a lower tds ?

many thanks

What value of TDS are you shooting for?
You're wate is pretty soft already, getting much lower than it is will cause some problems as you need at least some mineral content in your water to stabilize it.

But yes, you can mix waters of various sources to get what water parameters you require.

Kh is the key along with the TDS
I aim for a TDs of 200 and a Kh of 4 to 6
The problem with TDS is that it is TDS totaly disolved Solids so you dont know what the solids are.

TDS also increases as fish waste collects which could be a reason your tanks have higher TDS.

TDS values will vary depending upon what species you're keeping/breeding as will their sensitivity to it. For many plecs it probably doesn't matter, for more demanding plecs it could be very important.
