Not an easy fish to spawn despite the cheap price in the shops caused mainly by the over abundance of this species in the wild.

Most of this genus are quite hard to spawn and due to the again abundance very few have tried.
Normal small plec caves and conditioning with meaty foods before a temp drop and some large clean water changes.

Wood caves are preferred over slate or clay generally and current is also important this fish is a lover of the more turbulent water I believe.
Young are easy to grow on after you get them feeding.
I have spawned L002 and found that once the male got going he would not stop.

Best of Luck

not necessarily Bob, mine bred in a tank with a reasonable flow, but nothing major, plus the cave they spawned in was hidden away and out of the flow completely
I stand corrected I never had a job to get my L002 to spawn I asumed it was the flow rate as he chose a log cave near the power head.

i'd certainly agree on the cave, wood caves are a must for these IMO, it was an oak cave mine spawned in, they eventually ate their way through it though

thanks guys the setuo up is 45l - 50L so not the most biggest tank in world but my common whiptial and julie seem to love it and have bred in it also i have four i got 5 but one turned out to be a common plec but as soon as i moved them from the 63L to the 45L they got a much brighter orange and they stand out more
