I once had a dragon fly larvae in my tank which came in on some plants. At first I noticed a few small guppy fry going missing (yes I had guppies when I first started fishkeeping  ) till they were all gone and then one day I noticed an adult guppy with an eye missing  and as I put the light on to feed them this ruddy creepy thing flew across the tank. It was over an inch long and had obviously been feasting on my fish :wb:

yours doesn't look like the one I had but ewwwwwwwww all the same I would get it out and inspect the tank for more

Hi all,
Definitely not a Dragonfly nymph, it might be a Caddis (because of the case of plant fragments), but I think it is most likely to be an aquatic moth caterpillar.
I'm pretty sure it won't bother your fish.

Something like a China-mark moth, this is the "Small China-mark", really common in ponds in the UK.

Thanks Darrel, That does look quite a bit like it (the only difference is that it is a lot lighter in coulor) I have taken it out of the tank anyway).

I might keep it in a container to see what it turns into as I am curious.
