beautiful zebras you have- love the cave arrangements, how did they like it in the end?
Thanks :D

Its been re-arranged again as I took them all out again earlier this year to sex them and they seem to like the change around as I've had more cave activity but no spawnings yet  I have added an extra filter with venturi also so there is approx 1800 lp/hr flow in there now :woohoo:

1800 lph, your zebs will like the extra flow. My 3ft breeding tank, has an internal filter rated at 1800lph, which I use for current and then an external rated at 800lph for filtration. Tank is kept at 29/30 degrees, Ph at 6.5(ish), TDS around 150-200.

I have caves made from slate and clay and positioned into and out of the current, just to give them an option. All caves are on the ground, I don't have tiered layers, as my zebs only seem to like the lower caves, also makes weekly cleans easier, as theres not so much to dismantle.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Stuart that does help

Unfortunately I have high Ph as its at 8.5 and my tds is 360-400 which I know is not great but I am spawning 134s, 260s and 174s so not that bad  but I am starting to work at getting it down as sometimes I have problems with fry dying in eggs because the shell is too hard to break through :wb:

lol ask Bib and Darrel, I have messed around with my water so much in the last 6 months its unreal, can't be doing the fish any good, So I went to the dark side and bought an RO and HMA unit, just to keep things constant.

As for the Ph, I never see this as a problem, I don't think the fish mind, as long as its not too extreme. I think Ph stability is more important, than getting it close to there wild conditions.

The high TDS maybe the reason, your eggs are not surviving, if dying through fungus etc, I place almond leaves in the tank, I know people here use Meth blue, but I like the natural route. But if your other fish are breeding then your doing something right.

Keep up the good work.
