hello guys and girls

Ok i have an 'allpondsolutions' 1400lph with uv light external pump which in my opinion is f'in POOP! No matter what i clean , what i do since after the first two weeks it sucks like a granny with no teeth!:wb:

I know a lot of you wil say i should of gone with an ehiem but funds we're low!

I have in my tank;
6 gold gouramis full size
8 corys
4 weather loach
1 rusty pleco
1 l135

At the moment i have replaced the external with a two power heads each with 450lph turn over.... i am cleaning the tank every day with 10 - 20% water change.

I have a fluval U4 internal filter spare....;but its so noisey.. (the wife complaines)

So my question... will the two internal power heads be enougth (i think you will say no!)

if not what do you think i should do? bare in mind funds are low but i will do what ever i need to make sure they are hapopyu and safe even if i have tto take out a loan!

cheers

cole:hi:

Unless they're called something different in the UK, powerheads have no filtration. In which case, no they are not at all suitable. I would in fact tell you to get another external, like a HOB, with a high flow rate & easy to clean & run it with the external you already had. Or go with an internal with a high flow rate & run it with the external you had. The goal you are trying to accomplish is to keep the debris out of you allpondsolutions filter & just use it to filter the water. Use the internal powerheads with strainers or a high-flow HOB or an internal to suck out all the poo & debris as these are easier to clean.

Is the sponge in a plastic cartridge? if so you could cut the sponge in half and add some siporax to the remaining space.. that will give you much more surface area than the sponge you take away and that will improve things greatly until you can get a good external .
