Hi,how many of u guys have had a tank nightmare?
I'm talking about when things go wrong after u change things.
Just like I've just had.needed to tie down a java fern to some
Bog wood, 10'mins tops.....well 2 hours later it was done!!
The fern was in my edge, so slowly pulled it out,but its roots
had grabbed the heater!so the heater came out,the heater hit one of
the lights, and busted it! Then the filter started to make strange noises, and then stopped!
So fixed filter, replaced light with new one,put heater back then added fern on the bogwood, ages later I got it where I wonted it.
Wot a pain in the @"&?

i know the feeling
A quick fish move last all day
I am always Gob smacked at how a simple thing that happens all the time with no problems becomes the task from hell with every turn of the screw going wrong

 indeed, made me giggle i the weee hours of the morning reading your 2hours special. I must also say, mostly a simple thing does go totally wrong. A 10min water change, kids screaming, water overflowing into living room, dog barking etc, all adds up to the joy of this hobby. good one cheers jk

Hi all,
water overflowing....
That is the normal one for me, as I usually just syphon out a 6 pint milk carton of water while the kids are having breakfast, I get distracted and before I know it there is water all over the floor.

The only real disasters I've had were wondering why the water was so warm, and my fingers were tingling, before finding that the heater was full of water and the tingling was because the tank was "live", and having a 6 pint milk carton of milk in one hand, and a 6 pint carton of rain-water in the other, and pouring the wrong one in the tank, fortunately the boy child noticed I was pouring "pond" water on his cereal before I'd poured much milk into the tank.

cheers Darrel

A few more minutes. Power goes out. Wet powerboard. Water everywhere. :wb::wb::wb:

My all time favorite is when ready to go out, got a pint waiting for you with the boys, give the fish a shake or two out of the can and BAM! the lid comes off and a half pound of granular food fouling everything up including your evening...:wb:
This has happened twice:cry:

 I've made the "distracted while siphoning" mistake, and sneezing while holding an open tub of flake is never good (luckily none went in the tank). One of my Juwel pumps wouldn't start once after a water change, so I gave it a good shake - bit too hard, as I lifted it out of the water and ended up with a jet of yucky water in the face. Eye infection two days later, pretty embarrassing when the chemist asked if I could think what had caused it - took a week for it to clear up. Also the day I put a big bit of bogwood in one of the tanks and discovered that soft Scottish water + bogwood = vinegar. pH crash, big panic, water changes etc, thankfully fish fine, though the plec wasn't impressed I'd taken his new bogwood away!
