Hi All

I was wondering if anyone has used the slate tiles people use for caves to lay on the aquarium floor? Rather than having sand. stones or bare bottom? Just thinking I could lay some in there and put sand or stones around edges to fill any gaps?

Regards

Are you talking about large pieces or chippings?

1 tip tho,get a nirite snail or 2,will help clean off the alge on the slate.i have 1 in my edge and he does a great job keeping the floor and back wall clean.

There are those that use/d slate bottomed tanks to keep plecs.
Problem i'd worry about is cleaning under the slate tiles & even between for that matter. Unless you sealed around the bottom of each piece with silicon i'm not sure i'd go this route.

Yeah I was wondering about waste etc. I thought if I put a fine layer of sand under and also around edges it couldn't then get under? The slate tiles I have are quite flat?
