Sorry if the photo is a bit rubbish... hope you can make it out.

As you can see, he's got spots all over his body and pectoral fins, but non on his dorsol or tail fins.

Hope someone can ID him (if he is in fact a he?!)

Thanks for your reply.

He does look like the ones in the photos of the link you posted, but he doesn't have any spots at all on his dorsol or tail fin - does that make any difference?

Hello Fishyfishy,

My first thought is L012, but it gets so difficult to ID fish with shots like that. The shadow of the root and fins down and not full side body shot makes it hard. It can be a variety of Ls.
1. Please let us know the size
2. For a possible ID, catch him and take photo from side and top
3. I think it is a male

Just really makes it easier for all of us. cheers jk

Thanks for your reply

Sorry again for my rubbish photo!

I've been trawling the internet and have found a pic that looks just like him... although the website doesn't give any details! Hope the attached helps? It is a side-shot, although not out of the water?

not to be fussy, but internet photos I would not use for judgement.
1. What size is your L
2. Need a photo of your fish side and top

cheers jk

PS if you do not like him send him to me

He he thanks!

I'll try and get a better photo of him for you - thanks for your help so far.

He's approx 5-6" long from nose to end of tail.

The reason i'm trying to find out a bit more about him is because he's recently taken a bit chunk out of the side of my large silver dollar... something he's never done before. I also need to make sure i'm feeding him correctly... at the mo he's just getting algae wafers, cucumber and whatever scraps of bloodworm which fall to the bottom of the tank.

IMO he would need more protein being an omnivore. Just test this theory, buy a muscle or prawn, raw, peel or shell and send it to him weighed down. i am sure he will gulp that with gusto. But again as said photo will ID the L and proper feeding. cheers jk

they say L163/L012 and L013 are nearly the same. They believe they sell L163 but in fact it might be incorrectly lablled and should be L012/L13.
It could be L163 as well. But the new photo will help us all  cheers jk
