Not many in the 183 club mate:clap:

They seem to have a habit of kicking eggs out. Normal 5 ish days before hatching and then another 5 ish days before they will have absorbed their sac,s. I feed mine crushed flake/algae tabs first off and then add crushed meaty pellets and slices of cucumber or courgette.

Welldone them:woohoo:

Beauty, Have you had much success with this method of hatching before?
I use a tumbler and hardly lose any eggs at all.

Goodluck with it.

That awesome mate! I'm happy for you! My previous pair used to always kick the eggs. I used a net with an airstone and eventually a Tumbler. Was ok until Summer came and the water heated up. Then I had the fungus troubles. I hear alot of breeders use Metheline Blue to rectify that problem. Hope you have good success with them Mate. It's a great feeling!

Sorry to hear that Daniel:cry:

The eating and kicking out of eggs is definitely a trait with Dolichopterus. I lost my 3rd spawn in a row yesterday due to the male eating them and I am seriously considering pulling the next batch to see if I can hatch them myself in a tumbler.

Keep up what ever your doing and they will spawn again.

Every one of my BNs had a first spawn that did not make it. The second one always was a success. I was told that first spawns are dummy eggs the females carry around for a long time and are rarely viable eggs. I don't know how true that is but it seemed to be spot on with my BNs and also with my first and so far only L174 spawn.

It looked like some of the eggs were no good in your pictures. The ones that look like they are "hard boiled" lighter colored yellow and solid looking are bad. The darker colored but liquid looking ones are good eggs. If you fry an egg sunny side up you know what I mean. When the eggs look like they do when they first enter the pan they are good, once you fry them they change and its the same with fish eggs. If the male does not eat the bad eggs because he kicked them out, the bad eggs can infect the good eggs and you loose the entire batch. With my BNs I was able to save some of them by carefully separating the eggs and discarding the bad ones. I have a small tank with an airstone, sponge filter and some methylene blue on hand for just that purpose.

Better luck next time.

i'm starting to wonder when the next time will be! did a massive cool water change last night, and will start a week of heavy over-feeding again, as this seemed to do the trick last time.
