2 males in the same tank ??

So as some of you know i am breeding bristlenoses atm. and am having a ball

But 1 of the younsters i kept from the first batch of eggs. I have notice that he is getting wiskers on his face so i believe it might be a male.

My tank is about 75L. And have many logs and hideout now for my babys so that should not be a problem.

I was wondering will the 2 males in the tank end up fighting over the females or maybe even kill each other ? and/or will it cause my current male to stop breeding.

hey there-
BNs are fantastic. I have been breeding Abn's for a couple of years now. I sell most of them but i kept about 6 of one batch from about a year ago.
I had to just let those 6 go because two of them where males and became sexually mature and my breeding male ~(there farther) wasnt having any competition.
Though there dad also see's off rusty and l75 plec's that are20cm long!

i'd keeep them together and if they are a problem just move them on- they dont tend to damage each other if they do fight.

totally possible- that what they will fight about , if they do fight. That the other reason i got rid of the females when they became sexually mature- insest breeds possibly deformed fry (not nice- i've seen it!)

No i wont be breeding it with mother. If turns out to be a male i will prob do a swap. others i got from different breeder.

Actually its called line breeding and its done all the time to fix traits. Its how albino bn, longfins and the various angelfish guppies and discus all came about. So long as you don't do it too long its okay but if you could help it and are not after developing a new trait its always better to breed unrelated stock.
