i recently raided the cave and got myself 15-18 eggs... i have suspected the male was eating the eggs.... mmmm maybe i was wrong.... or he hadnt got hungry yet.... into the tumbler and fingers crossed....

to be honest i'd like some assassin snails but i dont think we have any in australia........
over a period of a few hours.... and very carefully... raising the cave on a 30 degree angle slowly so the male thinks the water is receding slowly and slowly backs out accordingly...
if you spook him he''ll shoot back up the cave like a rat up a drain pipe then you have to start again....
yep thats about the time frame the last lot of eggs were laid....
unless the other female decides to lay then it could be anytime....
slowly lost most of the eggs to fungus...
but i had 2 wrigglers couple days ago.... but now only the one....
water quality varies so much where we live - sometimes eggs go full term and no fungus other times they fungus up in a day... even using meth blue and changing their water daily....

Great pic Johnno. Those eggs are so yellow.Watching the eggs slowly be taken over with fungus is hard. Good luck on the next batch.

have you tried adding water louse or shrimp to where you have eggs?
they help to eat any fungus that way it does not spread to all the others.

not yet.... i was gonna use a surogate dad next time.... if it happens again...
i had giant whiptail eggs at exactly the same time and they have hatched up well.... thats how it goes with fish... some successes some failures then you learn some more... ya can never know everything....
