advice please

hi im new to breeding and would like to breed something but not sure what.
so would you advice me on what to try to breed something what would be a lurning curve i know the brown bristlenose would be a good one but was wondering if thay were any others i could try
are any of these ok to try :L047 (magnum pleco), L200 (green phantom), L204 (flash panaque), LDA33 (snowball), L18/L81 (gold seam golden nugget),L183 (starlight bristlenose)i think
any advice would be welcome

if you haven't bred any plecs then start with BN's.

L47 - NO -hasn't been done at all in captivity
L200 - unlikely, (there are also 2 diff. species, hemi. subrivirds, bary. demantiodes. i think thats right)
L204 - has been done, not very easy if i can recall :whistle:
LDA33 - not that i know of, same as the L47 and 18/81/177's.
L18 etc etc -NO, same reason as L47.
L183 - fairly easy once you've got used to breeding common BN's.

Hello Smokey,

Wow your list is surely stunning. As stated in the mail, most of those you listed have had no or rare breeding successes and most of these ls are quite pricy. If you wish to start, then commence with BN. They come as peppermints and other varieties. good luck cheers jk :thumbup:

Bristle noses are what most of us cut our teeth on.
One of the most popular group of fish for breeding is the Hypans they are small, relatively easy to keep, respond to known spawning triggers, in general more fry survive and have small clutches of eggs thus rearing and growing on is not a case of losing 20 tanks to fry.

Down side is the male aggression and cost.
