Hi everyone,

I had a look around the Internet and couldn't find anybody really answering this question, sorry if im wrong.

I finally got my albino BNs to breed. Eggs hatched and fry have started to grow. During the hatching phase I rescued about 15-20 eggs, kept them in a tumbler i made and they all turned out fine.

The fry I raised in the tumbler are now eating boiled zucchini but the others are still all trapped in the cave with the father. I took a look with my torch and there are at least 20 in there that have still not eaten. I estimate that my fry hatched approximately 5 days ago.

My question is this should I remove the fry in the cave with the father? I have read that removing fry/eggs from the father can cause them to never EVER breed again.

Does anybody else have any experience with this? I’m worried the father is inexperienced and won’t let the babies out to eat.

dont panic they will come out when they are good and ready.... they are tiny and can squeeze by dad anytime they get hungry enough to venture outside the cave...

with the never breeding bit... sounds like an old wives tail....
they'll breed again....

they may come out at night and shelter by day. sometimes a few come out and the rest stay long so look out for just the odd escapee.
what i do is release fry food (powdered fry food or microworms,) in front of the cave several times a day, then he will fan food in to them.

Yeah.. I'd say the 'never breed again' is a myth.
Like everyone else has said, they will come out when they are ready...Let nature take its course..
Dad will fan food in for them...

I move mine with the males in them all the time. Once they are wriggles you are usually home free and they will be coming out when it is dark and safe to feed. They will be eating the bacteria that has accumulated in the end of the cave and when that runs out ut they will come. If you wanted you can get the male out and put the complete cave in the fry saver and place food at the enterance of the cave. I do this with my L260's as my male like to eat his fry so I try to keep them alive. Congratulations and have alot of fun watching them grow.

Hi well done,

All i do is wait till i see my fry wriggeling in the cave then i take the breeding cave and tip the fry into a floating fry hatcher in the breeding tank where they were hatched.

You will need to fill the cave numerous times with water form the breeding tank, keep going till all fry are out i use torch to check all fry have been flushed out, the male just stays stuck inside the breeding log.

You will have a couple left behind tip when refilling cave from tank be carefull not to over fill the cave or fry will back wash over the cave entrance and into your main tank.

hope this helps

Roy
