I'll try and keep this short ......
My L183's spawned and the male tossed the eggs out the cave day 2. Eggs hatched in saver and fry are now 4 days old. Noticed another batch of eggs in his cave today while doing regular maintenance which was quite a surprise.

Problem is tonight my third female is very gravid and hassling the male something rotten trying to get in the cave. She has managed to squeeze past him once after quite a to do. I'm worried the eggs in his cave are going to get damaged with all this fuss. She is relentless and still trying to squeeze past him.

Should I leave the eggs in the cave, or poach them and put them in the fry saver ?

Any advice is greatly appreciated !

I have had my L144 male have two lots off eggs before i think you will find your male will let her in eventually and he will be fine. but other people might have other opinions

i'd personally leave the cave for now, with the male and other female looking to spawn, i wouldn't want to disturb anything.
Its not unheard of having one male with a double spawn.
with any luck the eggs wont be damaged or kicked out.
let us know what you do and how it goes with them

Is this quite common with bristlenoses ? This is the first group I have kept and still learning . Never come across it with my hypans.

i would expect it to be the same for any sp. really. one alpha male, and several gravid females would mean that they would all try to get in with him, regardless of the fact that he is already on eggs:dk:

Yes when Bob sold me my group of L002/Lda01s he told me the male would often have either 2 lot of eggs or eggs and wigglers in the the cave

Good luck with them Elaine, sounds like you have a very productive group there

My 144s and super reds often do double spawns and not quite the same but my 174 male recently spawned with only 2 week old youngsters still in the cave with no problems either  but I know what you mean, I would worry the female would be bouncing off the eggs :fr:

Thanks to everyone for all the help.

The second lot of eggs were kicked out while the female was trying to get in the male's cave. Was sitting watching at the time ( thank goodness ) and got them straight out of the tank and safely into the fry saver. She's still in the male's cave this morning.

Took me by surprise all this as I have recently moved the group to a bigger tank and expected them to take a little while to settle in. Just hope these eggs hatch in the saver ok ! Any tips on how to remove unfertilised eggs without causing damage ?

Thanks Joby !

I've tried too, and it didn't go well either. Damaged more than the original unfertilised eggs.

Anyone got a trick to this, or are they best left alone ?

Well after all the fuss the 3rd female made about getting into the cave, nothing happened. She's back out and parked underneath the bogwood at the side of his cave. So the second lot of eggs got thrown out in all the fuss .... for nothing !

Happy ending though, here's the second batch that has just hatched today.

Thanks for all the replies guys ..... and girls lol !

Thanks Joby, they are so cute !

I was using a pipette to gently turn them, seems to do the trick. They all made it out the egg sack so I'm well pleased !
