I have just noticed that my bristle nose plecs have raised a few young. Can't quite see how many, but they are about half inch long. They must have spawned on the underside of a piece of bogwood, very close to the gravel. How long do they stay with the parents?

If they are out and about then that's job done for dad and they will need feeding:yes:

They are still under the bogwood, and from what I can make out, both parents are under there with them. What sort of food should I be giving them?

If they are still under the bogwood then dad will keep an eye out, once they start coming out they are on their own. Crushed flake and wafers, veggies. My babies like courgette, mushroom(esp when softened up), capsicum, cucumber(but not too often as not very nutritious),green beans and spinach. If they need a little encouragement getting on veggies try pushing a couple of algae wafers into a piece of courgette.

Thanks Doodles. I gave the parents their normal algae wafer last night and the male manoeuvred it under the bogwood, then all the fry were on it, fascinating.

great news, well done. she will lay more eggs quite soon I expect.
just keep water changes going maybe every other day (10-20%)with water same temp as tank and keep filter clean (but not too clean) in the old tank water. with lots of young the water will pollute more and they need good qual water to grow well.
