Hi I have bred bristle nose countless times however this time something is going awfully wrong I had over 200 albino and common Bn fry and they are all but dead :( I have maybe 20 left
Fry are in homemade saver with fly screen with power head pushing current through yet not to strong
Water parameters are checked and sweet
Other few older fry in box to show the young fry to eat and they are fine and eating
I was feeding hikari wafers, pleco chips, zucchini, cucumber , veggie flake
The fry just spin and go really skinny and die, they didn't really get to the eating voraciously stage
I have driftwood in there as well
Have a powder food as well
Dad has raised the fry and countless other batches successfully as well
One or two don't just die I come back and 10 or dead and so on I don't have many left , I'm worried as I have os hatching and they can be fickle to raise and don't want them to die to
I recently resealed the fry saver with selleys aquaroum safe silicon , I waited 48 hours, till dry and it didn't smell and put it in, there is also fly screen on the bottom so no build up of that slimet hat sometimes kills fry, i quickly removed all dead ones, I come back and more are dead, please any help at all!!!!

All from same batch but he bred with three different females so got three different lots out of log mixture of common and albino, I have some older ones in saver to show the younger ones how to eat and they are fine, the young ones are dropping like flies

I was just thinking a genetically weak batch which happens in all animals
The silicone shouldn't leach if it was fully dried
Heater hasn't malfunctioned or anything? I replaced a heater last week that was set to 26, made the water about 27 usually but had malfunctioned & made my water 35!
Lucky nothing died. I guess all you can do is remove them or increase oxygen levels & do some water changes. I hope someone else can help you more

I think I would try lots of water changes? what is the water like and do you use RO or rain water? if tap water maybe something in the water, sometimes water companies add extra chemicals to clean the system. I would also add some ESHA2000 as good for breeding fish and eliminating odd illnesses.

I'm not sure what that stuff is as I'm in aus but yeah I'll do more water changes , most fry are dead now anyway :( I don't think they actually are since they consumed the egg sac

I think it came down to not been able to get this batch onto food soon enough, they wouldn't eat straight from the egg sac and I have never had this happen before, any tips to help get the fry going on food?
