Hi my bristlenose have layed eggs. Do they eat there eggs or would they look after them? If they need to be taken out when is best to do that? They have layed eggs before but they were in a tank full of other fish. Now they are with just a few tetras.

Thanks

the bristlenose are great parents, i would leave them untouched in the tank and cave as long as the male is still in the cave looking after them. usually they do not eat the eggs unless they might be infirtile. cheers jk

Ok. I think what happened last time is the dad stopped looking after them as I saw a few swimming around and next day they were gone. But theres nothing in the tank that they are in now so hopefully they survive!:)

As long as they are still in the cave, the male will keep other fish out. Once the fry leaves the cave, it is free for all and all you can eat buffet for their hungry tankmates. BNs are very prolific, it will soon come to a point where you will run out of tank space for all the fry you get.
