Calico X Albino

I found my male Calico BN guarding a clutch of eggs today, I lost my female Calico so it must have spawned with an Albino which is in the tank, I dont know how it works but there should be some interesting fry coming from it.

i'll bet you'll get all calico fry.... lol... :whistle::whistle::whistle:

albino is a recessive gene... hence you'll need two parents carrying the gene to produce albino offspring.... bar genetic mutations (very rare)

the only way you'll get some albino fry from this spawn is if the male was spawned from albino/calico parent originally... and even then you'll get about 50-50 ratio of each...

I hope you're right, I would prefer to get all Calico, easier to move on.

hey billyjimbo any news on the fry yet??? they shoulda hatched up and be starting to leave the cave by now assuming all is good.... ?????

Hi Bigjohnno, they are all out of the cave now - hundreds of the little blighters and not an Albino in sight, looks like they are all Calico unless they reverted back to the original brown, too small to tell yet. Just found my L183 pair with another small batch of eggs as well.
