Hi all, ive got a breeding pair of L183s waiting on them to spawn, was just wondering if having corys in the tank is a bad idea in terms of them eating the fry or spooking the male?

Cheers

Nope, good tank mates for breeding plecs. The one concern i would have is that the water for your L183's is acceptable for any cories you intend to put in.

I have cories in most of my breeding tanks with the exception of the 183,s for the fact its so unstable with using almost neat RO and i dont want to risk adding anything else that might cause problems.

Daniel has bred the ones you have so get the parameters off him and you wont go far wrong:D

ahh way ahead of you mr Gee, im going all out on this one lol! even hooked up another filter so ive got a 205 and a 305 on a 3 foot tank. Im hoping mr RO will be ok, its remineralised and has a pH of 7 consistantly so im praying it causes no problem with the plecs and the cories. Trouble is my tap water is so hard that we some times even get chalk coming out of the tap!

Hi all,
It would be interesting to know if some types of Corydoras and plecs are associated with one another in the wild (I know plecs are mainly nocturnal and Cories day active)?, since I read this article on PC about Corydoras aeneus & Otocinclus flexilis<http://www.planetcatfish.com/cotm/cotm.php?article_id=403> I've been thinking that Corydoras hastatus and Otocinclus "vestitus" etc also look pretty similar, and http://www.planetcatfish.com/images/full/callichthyidae/corydoras/hastatus/5.jpg & http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/image.php?species=otocinclus+vestitus&image_id=511.

Any more larger Cories / Plec look alikes?
